Express Yourself with a Colorful Wedding Dress

For centuries, brides around the world wore wedding dresses in a variety of colors, often choosing a frock they already owned. In 1840, Queen Victoria wore a white lace gown when she married Prince Albert and the tradition of a white wedding dress spread through the western world. However, as many time-honored wedding customs are evolving, more brides are incorporating unique ideas into their day that reflects their life and personality. One way to do that is a colorful or patterned wedding gown.

Celebrities seem to be paving the way for this new trend. Over the course of eight weddings Elizabeth Taylor wore a yellow dress, green dress, violet dress and even a tie dye dress! More recently, blush and pink have become popular choices for weddings. Kaley Cuoco Sweeting, Jessica Biel, Reese Witherspoon and Gwen Stefani all wore shades of pink on their big day. On the other end of the color spectrum, a black gown was chosen by Avril Lavigne and Sara Jessica Parker.
