While the table was written with mostly a single person in mind, the amounts are not per guest. How much you spend depends on your budget and closeness to the couple. If, as a couple, your budget allows you to spend double the amount, then yes you should do so. However, are not “paying admission” to the wedding. Spend what feels comfortable for you.
