We have all seen the pictures of the devastation in Oklahoma and our hearts go out to those affected by the tornadoes. It is especially heart-wrenching for me as I grew up just a few miles from the Oklahoma border — part of Tornado Alley. Although the threat of a tornado is a fact of life there, nothing prepares you for the loss of your home or even worse, someone you love. How can you help these most recent tornado victims? You can make a donation to one of the organizations below which are in the business of rebuilding lives of those affected by these tragedies.
Donate to the Salvation Army
The Salvation Army has activated disaster response teams and mobile feeding units in Moore, Oklahoma to help both the residents and rescue workers in the area. If you’re interested in donating, you can donate online through this link or text STORM to 80888 to contribute $10 to the Salvation Army’s relief efforts.
The American Red Cross has set up several shelters in Oklahoma and the Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicles have already begun to deliver hot meals throughout the affected areas. Red Cross volunteers are also working to link loved ones in Moore who are OK to their family members through the website Safe and Well. To make a $10 donation to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief, text REDCROSS to 90999. You can also donate online here.
